I was looking up ammo, and saw that Federal makes a 16G rifled slug!?

I didn't know they existed.

Has anyone used these?

Michael

The Federal is not one of the better slugs--IMO. Do you use them in Ca. ? Smile

I didn't know anyone made rifled slugs in any size but 12G. I've never used them.

I don't know how reasonable it would be to try a rifled slug. Part of me thinks it would be fun to try, but I might never get near enough to fire a round.

Does anyone here use a 16G rifled slug to hunt with?

Michael

16gauge slugs?? you betcha!! Make mine Reminton green please. Have used them all--imported and domestic--still like green. Area i hunt in was slugs guns only until the last couple years when they deemed rifle ok. I still throw slugs as i have been for the last 31 years. Dads old Ithaca 37 is 1st out each season follwed by a couple A5's and and Model 12-a 16's. Yeah dad was a one gun guy and his gun wears a old Weaver 3kw. You wish at times it was not wearing the weaver side mount--but it was dads and that pretty much makes it priceless.

When I used to hunt deer in shotgun only areas I was very fond of the Brenneke 16 ga slugs, very accurate.

Still have a few, but the good news is that Midway lists them as "coming soon".
They were unavailable for a long time. 16 ga Resurgence?

Pete

I keep a hand full of Remmies and Brenekes with me at all times when duck hunting. Every year sooner or later a southern pine goat will step out. I dropped a nice doe 40 yards from my boat last year. One more reason I love my sweet sixteen.
