I ran across what appears a good price on 16ga. shells on www.Gunbroker.com. I don't know anything about IMPERIAL plastic shells but there are two offerings there. #1...500 rounds for a buy now price of $55.99 and #2.... 250 rounds for a buy now price of $ 29.99. They are both listed as: 67MM, 7.5 shot, .96oz.
The Auction list numbers (just type in the numbers in the search window) are
# 83446982 and #83447002. Or type in 16ga. ammo.
I am not associated with this sale ....just found it interesting.

Good Luck.....Rabbitdog

These are a good deal. I bought 5-500 cases for $350 delivered. That's $3.50 a box. I'll likely never see shells this cheap again.

I also bought 5 of these 500 rnd cases. I sent the seller a note asking if I could buy multiples and he sent a note back saying the 5 cases was no problem and gave me his phone number to place the order:

Pat Burns <milstuff@gmail.com>
5 of them is no problem. Visa is no problem. you can use my secure server at
https://host278.ipowerweb.com/~gunsnamm/ordermain.htm

or call 631-734-5022 in the morning. You do not need to buy it now you can just order.

I mention this because I went back to the GunBroker aution listing after I placed the order and he had increased the price to $63.99. Maybe if you call him and mention the $54.99 price you still might get it.

The UPS charges will vary depending on distance from the seller in NY. I live in Rochester, Mn so the freight per case (20 boxes) is $28. That makes my cost per box $4.17.

FYI ... I just checked my credit card online and I was charged $399.95 for the 5 -500 rnd cases. That figures out to $24.04 shipping per case .... making the total cost to be exactly $4 per box.

Does anyone know what kind of hulls these use. In the low pressure group data sheet I see loads for Cheddite Imperial hulls. Is that waht these are? Also, the box in the pictures lists the length as 67mm. If someone has some empties laying around could you check and see if they really are 2 5/8".

I don't have any empties yet, but holding up one of these shells up next to a Winchester 2.75 shell it appears to be 1/8 inch shorter.

Would someone cut one open and see what wad they're using? Check the shot for relative hardness and quality, too while you're at it. You can compare the shot to say some bagged hard shot and get an idea about the relative hardness. Just squeeze a few of each with a pliers.

Anyone pattern these yet?

Dave, I can cut one open this evening when I get home. I have some magnum #7 1/2 here to compare for hardness. I have never tried that before with pliers but I will get the lightest pair I have which should give the best sensitivity and feel. I will also post a picture of the wad. There are four stars and four '16's in alternating order across the bottom of the brass. I thought I read that cheddites have stars. Can someone confirm that?

Skip, yes those would be Cheddite hulls.

Dave M, thank you. I will start looking for some load data for them.

Here are the components. As a sampling from only one cartridge both the weights from the powder and the shot might deviate a bit from the average. The powder is is grains, the shot in grams. The claimed weight of the shot is 27 grams and it was just above that according to my scale. The powder is a light grey and cut into squares, rectangles, and diamonds. I think the shot might be lower antimony. I believe it was a little easier to compress than the Lawrence Magnum I compared it to but even with light pliers the difference was not much.
