Is there a difference or what is the difference between Federal 209 and Federal 209A primers? |

Federal says these are not interchangeable and published load data backs that up. The 209A is a hotter primer and usually increases velocity and pressure.

You might want to check out this link.
It's about how primer substitutions affects loads.
It's a great read, worth printing.
