Today I pick up my new Grade III (Not the IV that I wanted) Uggie and Thursday load my Versitile Birddog Ariana (Portuguese Pointer), and head 8 hours to the wild environs of Iowa!
The land where the pheasants fly free (If you don't count the $100 bucks for the license) and always flush to my gun in easy crossing shots.
I should get a few pictures of the dog working, as this is her first trip with me. And god willing a few of the birds before and on the plate. Yummy.
There is a small patch of public ground that we will probably run through that requires no-tox. Does anyone know a place in KC or DesMoines that might have a box or two of Bismuth, Tungston etc?
I've convinced my wife that with a new birddog that I need to hunt about every other weekend to get her ready for the next season. 
After the Iowa pheasants (towo trips within two weeks) I head to OK, KS and TX for quail, and prairie chickens. I love this time of the year-- New Gun, New Dogs, New gear, and old broken in waterproof boots!
I'll let you know how well I did, or lie about how well I did.

Ash, you could try the Cabelas in KC. They are on the west side of town on the loop. You can get driving directions from their website.
