After taking apart my Browning Citori for case storage, I would like to pull the trigger to release the pressure on the spring. I need a tool to press against the firing pin to do this. Has anyone seen such a tool and where it can be purchased?

I must say LJ you had me a bit confused for a moment. Reassemble your gun and put in 2 used(fired hulls) and pull the trigger twice. Then take the forearm off and break the gun down for storage. Just remember to remove teh forearm first.

I must be missing something, but if you remove the foreend, and then take the gun down, you must recock the triggers as you take the barrells off. How do you then release the trigger?

The forend cocks the hammers upon opening.

If you're really concerned about dropping the hammers on an empty chamber then buy some snap caps. I use them, though I have read debate about their necessity with rebounding hammers in modern guns but I figure they are cheap insurance and peace of mind.

Let's try this again.

When I have my Citori assembled and in the case during the hunting season, I always use snap caps. That way, when I'm done hunting for the day, I depress the trigger for each barrel so that the trigger spring tension is released.

What I'm talking about is after the season, I like to store my citori unassembled in a leather case. I believe there is a tool that can be held against the firing pin so that the trigger will pull and the tension can be released on each barrel. I don't recall what the tool is called and I don't know where to find one.

That would be $30 spent unnecessarily, but hey, its your money.
Birddog gave you the correct procedure. With the gun assembled, put in your snapcaps, pull the triggers. Now, without opening the gun, remove the fore-end from the barrels, then remove the barrels from the receiver. The springs are now relaxed. The hammers cannot re-cock with the fore-end removed.

You can drop the spring tension with a block of wood (bbls. off) or a 1/2" wood dowel ( bbls, on ). Smile

So you want to release both triggers.

So uh how does the second trigger realease on inertia triggers if you don't tap the butt of the gun?

Usually you can snap the first barrel, put the saftey back on and sel the other barrel release the saftey and then snap the other barrel.
Works on most inertia triggers maybe not all
