In the spirit of 16ga. brotherhood, please allow me to brag on my dog for a moment. We had a great day on Thanksgiving chasing roosters at a release site. It was a mob scene of course, but a lot of fun too. There were a million labs, and my 10 yr. old brit was one of only a very few pointers that I could see. My brit was amazing, and (no offense to lab owners) he basically kicked the labs' butts, running with absolute glee in the frosty grass, and with three beautiful points with roosters flushing at my feet. I asked a couple of guys that didn't have a dog to hunt with me, one of whom wanted to get a brit. Thursday sealed the deal for him.
My dog doesn't usually perform that well, so I was very proud of him. He doesn't win field trials, but I always get my birds when I'm out with him. I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about. |
