A poor day hunting is better than a good day in the chat room.

I'm sitting at my computer this morning reading about other people's hunts this season and wishing it was pheasant or grouse season again when it hits me: It's still quail season in Arizona!

So I grab my winchester M24 that has been neglected since I got my Ithaca NID, whistle up the dog and head out in the desert.

Only got in to one bunch and only got one shot; but, my what a pretty shot it was! Wink (my GWP) delivered a male Gambles quail to my hand. It was then I looked around to blue skies, 60 degree temperatures, and an un-developed piece of desert and thought that was a pretty good day after all.

You ever have a day like that?

Not currently. It is 27 degrees and blowing snow at 12 mph. All of the south facing sides of the fence posts look like white icicles.

Yeah, yeah, I am a sissy since retiring from the Corps. Today the chat room looks one hell of a lot better than outside.

This hot rum toddy I'm drinking ain't half bad either!
