Recently, a friend offered to me a Rossi Overland 16 gauge side by side, external hammers, shotgun. I´m very interested on buy it.

The 16 gauge, here in Brazil, is very used in Amazonian region for subsistance hunting.

Here, we also have some restrictions to the 12 gauge. 12 gauge shotguns, in Brazil, are allowed for civilian use only with 24-inches or more barrels. Gauges from 16 to .410 has no restriction to the barrel lenght.

The carry license for subsistance hunting is given only to use 16 gauge or smaller gauges, single or double barrel shotguns.

Do they still make the Rossi SxS Overland hammerguns?
I have had a rossi 28GA single barrel and a Rossi .357 carbine.
Both were reliable guns, I would love a Rossi 16GA Hammergun.

Interesting hearing about Brazil's gun laws!

First of all, forgive my poor English.

Rossi double barrel shotguns are not longer produced 10 or 15 years ago.

The 28 gauge is most common hunting gauge in Brazil, because only subsistance hunting is allowed in almost all Brazilian territory. Only in Rio Grande do Sul state is allowed sporting hunting, where the 12 gauge is more used.

I have 3 Rossi guns: a Puma .38 Special lever-action carbine (the.357 Magnum are classified as "restricted use" here), a .410-gauge (known here as "36 gauge") single shot pistol (very effective to exterminate nocive animals, like snakes and rats) and a 11-mm muzzle-loading black powder shotgun.

Erick Tamberg,

Interesting that the 28GA is the most common gauge for hunting in Brazil.

I love the little 28GA almost as much as my 16GA.
It's a pity that Rossi do not make the Overland Hammergun anymore.
Did they ever make it in 28GA?

Yes, the Overland was made in all gauges from .410 to 12, including gauges like 24 and 32, uncommon today.

I realize that this is an old thread, but I'm adding to it anyway.

I never knew that Rossi made an Overland in anything other than 12, 20, and 410 until I saw this thread. Then I found this one in 16ga, so I bought it.
