Local Hardware store still has many boxes of 16 Ga. at less than 4.75/box regardless of brand. I'll be reloading these. Most will probably end up being trimmed to 2 9/16. Should my choice be Federal, Winchester, or Remington for ease of use? All are light game loads. RD |

I would go with the Remmy's for durabilty and overall performance. At that price I would stock up on what you can afford. This will give you not only a good supply of hulls but will eliminate the need to change your press from one type to another |

Rockydog,
How old is the Winchester stock, prior to 99 and these might be the compression formed hulls so highly coveted by the ranks. The Rem's are probabley best suited for target loads as the Federals are much better for the heavier hunting loads.

Everyone has their favorites. I prefer the Federal and Cheddite hulls over the Remington. The 16 ga. low-pressure group have a good number of loads for the 2 1/2 inch Cheddite hull and it sounds like Charles' new wad is designed for 3/4 & 7/8 oz. loads in the straight-walled hulls like the Cheddite and Federal.
