Has anyone tried the newer Remington 209 STS primers in the following recipe:
Now for the 16 ga
Win Polyformed Plastic Basewad
30gr Longshot
BP/SPTG16 WAD
Rem 209P Primer
11.300 psi
1500fps Listed and will do it
1oz Mag or Nickle Plated 7 1/2 shot
I know this recipe comes from Hodgden's site, but I found it through a link for turkey loads on this forum, as provided by Charles Hammack. I realize that Remington states that the STS primer is a direct replacement for the 209P...but I was wondering if anyone has tried it in this particular load.
Thanks. |

To my knowledge, the Remington 209 STS and the 209P are the same primer. All they did was change the packaging, I believe. |

Wouldn't a load that hot blow the pattern due to pellet deformation? It seems like that would defeat the purpose of a tight patterning turkey load. |

I was thinking the same thing. Why in the world would you need a load going 1500 FPS for a turkey, less than 30 yds. away. |
