I joined the Low pressure group but the data will not be here for a week or so.

I may be able to buy some Rem Black Hulls from their field load once fired shells.

Are there any loads in the Low Pressure Group for something less than 1 oz? (preferrably without fillers)? If so, I will order the hulls.

Thanks

Do you have any of the R-16 wads?
If not, DownRange is supposedly coming out with a wad that will work in these hulls.

I have bought nothing yet other than the reloader (MEC9000). I am trying to determine a recipe for 7/8 oz with components I can find (finding the components seems to be the issue).

And since the MEC9000 can't reload 2.5" shells, I am looking for 2.75" loads.

There are a number of loads you will not be dissappointed.... my fave is a nice 7/8 oz load with orange duster (20 ga) wads and unique.

Hodgdon lists a 7/8 oz load with International Clays. The Alliant interactive web-based manual has 1 oz loads with Green Dot and Unique. If you're going to make 3/4 and 7/8 oz loads GD will allow you to use smaller charges safely. Unique will work well, but you'll burn more of it per shell.

I've tried a variety of 20 ga wads (yes, 20 ga wads), and found that the Gualandi SG20L (Grafs has them) give most consistent results. Crimps with 3/4 or 7/8 oz come out fine without filler.

When we get the Downrange 16 ga wad the use of 20 ga wads will probably become a thing of the past.

I saw the recipe for Hodgdon. It is for the Rem RXP and STS plastic shell. Is that the same as the Rem Black?

Do you mind sharing your source for the hulls? I need more...rather I'd like - no I need more.

Thanks,

Gungho,

Had to laugh, as I don't think Rem has ever made an STS in 16 ga. I haven't heard the RXP designation (applied to 16 ga hulls) used in awhile. Maybe someone else can comment. Don't be afraid to email Hodgdon, they've always been prompt when I've done so.

Anyway, I did a quick search. Recobs website lists 16 ga GLs in #8 and #7.5 as available. Price is about $6/box, you'll have to add shipping. Dick's prices have migrated up to well over $5/box in the past two months. If all else fails in local search, Recobs might be the way to go to get GLs for hulls.

No 16 gages were in the shipment, just 12's and 20's Sad
