My MEC 9000G loader is on the way.
Do they normally come with the metal crimping tool BP sells or is this an add on? Do you recommend it?
Is there an advantage of 6 versus 8 point?
Does the 6 versus 8 effect pressure (if a recipe calls for 6 and I use 8 (and visa versa), will I create a problem?
Thanks |

Your loader will come with both the 6 and 8 point Spindex.
You don't need the brass one.
If the hull was originally 6 point, you must reload it as a 6 point.
The only time you decide which one to use, is if the hull is new or cut, and not been crimped. Should be no difference in pressure. |

For new Hulls, any reason for me to choose 6 versus 8 from an "easy to do" viewpoint? |

With new plastic hulls (I use Cheddite) I find no reason to use the brass crimp starter. The Spindex works great for both 6 and 8 point. I personally, get better crimps with 6. Some say hulls last longer with 8. I can't say.
I also load the new paper cheddite hulls. If you don't roll crimp them, you will need the brass crimp starter, to get a good crimp. |
