Hi,
anyone have one they would like to sell or trade perhaps...I have two 16 gauge doubles ...a Sears Ranger, by Hunter Arms precision grade 104.3 (circa 1939)...had the chambers extended and I refinished stock.
also have a tenite JC Higgins 101.7 (Savage 5100). Also have a 12 gauge Sportsman 58 with 28 inch mod plain barrel.
thanks,
can send pics ,etc.

I've always heard good things about them Terry. I don't have one, but I've had a casual eye out for one for a while now. I think it was our own Charles who said good things about them too.

Terry, you could try this guy, he is the local Rem 48 & 58 guru here in west MI. the58sportsman@comcast.net i did pass this along to another member here a little while ago and i'm not sure if Dave ever helped him out. good luck, mike |

thanks all for your input!
and if I can't find a 16 gauge 58, perhaps I could get a shorter-open barrel for the 12. I have a couple of 12 gauge 1100 barrels I probably won't ever use again..one is about 25 inch plain cylinder and the other is about 24 inch, ribbed with screw ins....both in excellent shape...I got them cut for upland , but the gun is still 8 lbs. and after 3 hours walking....about 15 lbs!
Milton indicated that he sent a PM,,,,but if I log in, it says I have no messages...
???

just a thought.....if your quest for a 58 doesn't pan out, have you consdiered a Rem 48 or 11-48? i enjoy mine and a search around here will show a handfull of devotees. mine is cut back to a cyl bore upland special and weighs in in the low #6's, absolutly love the thing. take care, mike |
