I've got some old 16 gauge hulls that look like the old AA's, but are marked Quail and Dove. Are these the same hulls as the AA's?

If the hull is one piece compression formed without a seperate base wad it is the "AA"...though I have never seen a sixteen hull marked AA. Labels I have include "Dove and Quail", and "Super-X".

Yep, that's it. We've commonly referred to the compression formed 16s as AAs, but the AA line is for target shells. Since there are no 16 gauge classes, boo, they aren't marked that way, just D&Q.

| The old WW 16 ga. compression formed hunting loads were marked as Upland, Expert, and Super X. I never saw one marked AA. They've been gone for well over 10 years now. It does not seem possible. |
