Hello to all! I'm new to the list and I'm just getting started loading for my 16ga. Model 12 Winchester. This is an old gun (1924-26) and has the 2-9/16 chambers. My 15 year old son is just getting started in skeet shooting and loves the old Model 12(This originally belonged to my grandfather and even has the original factory Poly choke). I have loaded other stuff but there is just no data out there for 2-1/2" 16ga. loads! I plan on buying the load data disc that is on this site but for now could someone suggest some 3/4 or 7/8 oz. loads? I have RST 2-1/2"hulls (I was told by the RST website that they are Cheddite hulls), Remington wads, and 700-x, Clays, and Universal Clays powders, and CCI primers. Any suggestions on favorite loads?
Thanks, Bruce |

Ballistic Products Inc has plenty of info on 2 1/2" loads.
I too have an old 2 1/2" chambered shotgun and shoot hundreds of 2 1/2's through it. I shoot doves (now there is some reloading) and right up through tough ol' rooster pheasants with these 2 1/2 loads form BPI.
Buy there 16 gauge Manual. It is well worth it to anyone who shoots a 16.
I have used both Cheddite, and Fiocchi hulls and both work very well.
Kent Gamebore has commercial 2 1/2" loads, so does Polywad, Inc.
B/P does too. |
