I did so with my Uggie a wile ago, shaving about 3/16" off the top of the comb because I was seeing a bit too much rib for my tastes (I've noticed many of the new guns, Aya's, Merkels, and so on, seem to have only about 2 1/4" drop at heel, which seems high to me).

I also added a leather pad (I had to cut off the checkered butt to do so), which gave me about 1" more length of pull. The result? It feels perfect now. I finally had time to take it to the range last night, and I not only added 2 birds to my average on the skeet range, but the birds I was hitting were going up in smoke, when I was getting chips before. Dead on, and that's a great feeling.

My advice? Don't be afraid of the wood rasp. Very Happy

Bob Villa (from This Old House) had the saying of "measure twice, cut once". Great to hear that you're hitting the target with your modifications. I've been told that a ten pound change in our body weight can affect the stock fit from 1/16-1/8". For the BB members that have spent more time on the recliner than the threadmill, that can make a drastic change to the guns that had originally fit us a few years before...

I gave up on home alterations . . .

measure once, cut three times, and it's still too short!

He may have used it, but it's been around a lot longer than he was. And I guarantee ya, if it's a 20K glulam, you measure more than twice.

Sounds like some of them should let someone else do the sawing and shaving. Wink
