Don't know if you have a big 5 near you or not. There is one here and 16 rgl's are 6.50 a box. |

If you keep your eyes out, they occasionally will sell them for 4.99 a box. I picked up two cases of the 1 1/8 7.5's last fall on sale.

Strato-Caster; I have used these loads, #6 shot on pheasants in South Dakota. I did well with them, so did my 16 ga. totin' hunting buddy. Shoot straight and you'll knock 'em down. |

The purple federal hull along with the cheddite is the best 16g hull to reload, 5-6X at least. They hold well and recrimp well. Watch that paper basewad, tho I've nevr had one let go. Love those pruples.
These days, 5-6$ a box is as good as it's going to get.
By the way, Estate 16G is made by federal and those purples are the same.

I've been shooting the Federal blue box gameshock low base loads for years with fine results on chukars, huns and quail. Not as good as the Winchesters, but good enough. My favorites are Winchester and Fiocchi game loads, and my own handloads of course |
