I just bought 5,000 Wolf 209w primers at Recob for $104.95 all in, a cost of about $21 per 1,000.

Has anyone here used them or know anything about them? No pun intended, but, at that price it was "shoot first and ask questions later" for me. I just bought them and figured I'd ask the experts here afterward. 8mmFan

I've pulled the trigger on about 1,000 of them in my trap loads. They all went bang. I'm going to pick up at least another 5,000 when Recobs returns to St Charles Sportsman Club in August. (no shipping charge, no hazmat!) JOHN

Great! Do you suppose I can just substitute them for the Win 209 primer in light trap/skeet loads? Have been shooting 3/4 oz shot loads in Win AA hulls for skeet (12 ga). Would also like to use them in my 16 ga loads when the new 16 ga wads become available. Thanks for the input. 8mmFan

I was using win209's for my 7/8 oz loads in AA hulls. Recobs advised that the Wolfs are just a little bit hotter than the Wins, so I just made the substitution with no other changes. Proceed with caution with any hot loads. I have not used Wolfs in 16ga yet (waiting for the new wad), but I plan to. JOHN

Thanks John. That's pretty much what they told me at Wolf when I called them, too, word for word.

I am using them in really light loads and will just use them for that. Will use the regular Win primer for more powerful stuff.

They seemed to fire alright for you in your loads? At $20 per 1000, I can handle a misfire or two, frankly. I bought 10,000 of them, and may buy more. 8mmFan

Friend and I split on 4 sleeves of them. No complaints. They're a tad bigger than domestic primers, but not so much that you can't use a domestic primer after a Wolf's been used, which isn't always the case with Fiocchis and Nobelsports.
