I have been reloading the black Remington hulls for skeet. I picked up several cases of them from Big 5 just for reloading.
I shot up all my Universal Clays with them (ok 1 oz. loads).
I shot up all my Longshot with them (great 1oz. loads).
And am not shooting up my Unique with them (don't like this 7/8 oz. load)
I get about 1-2 reloads on average on each shell before they start splitting. What shells do you like for reloading and how many reloads do you get with them? |

Cheddite Hulls, and 6 or better reloads. |

Dave that is strange you only get a couple of loading from the RGL. I have and do get at least 5 or 6 loadings with each hull. For 1 oz loads, I much prefer the Federal hull. I use 17 grains or Green Dot or REX II with a gualandi wad.
When ever I am loading 7/8 oz, which is most of the time, I use the RGL and 17 grains of the above powders. The cases seem to last a long time for me. |

I think Dave's problem with the RGL stems from the fact he is not getting a proper crimp with his current components. If he follows the advice he received on the 16 gauge loaders group site he should improve his case life longevity significantly. |

I just finished off a patch of black Remmy hulls this weekend. They lasted for 6 reloads. Could have pushed it a bit and reloaded about half of them a 7th time.

I've always been curious as to how well the RGL hull holds up for reloading. I shoot a lot of them but I've inspected the hull after shooting and wasn't impressed. It always seems to be about half closed and very stiff. It looks like it would if you were trying to start the crimp for reloading. It also seems to be burned or maybe the plastic appears to be stretched. I'm not sure. It just doesn't look very resilient and thought it wouldn't last long. The hull certainly doesn't like a once fored Remington RST. |

I hate to guess how many times some of my Rem black hulls have been loaded. Some split sooner, some worse than others, but overall I'm getting a lot of loads from my hulls. If they crimp reasonably tight, hold their shot, can be stuffed in my chamber, they will smash a clay! |

I generate thousands of 16ga empties....there are three brands I reload, one brand I sell, one I give away, and one I throw away.
Of the ones I reload, all will last 5-6 loadings.

Ya Mike,
Tell us the whole story!
What do you keep?
What do you sell?
What do you give away?
What gets canned? |

Mike,
I'll take, or buy, all the short RST's you can shoot.
I load short 12's, 16's, and 20's. The RST or Cheddite is my go to hull.
Regards, Dave Miles |
