Hi,
I am relatively new to the forum. Based on early recommendation, I bought some Polywad 2.5" vintager and also tested a flat of Gamebore Vintagers. Both worked well. I saved the hulls and thought I would like to reload with a 16 Ga. MEC.
Can anyone share a recipe that would emulate the low pressure that both were originally loaded with?
If I need to join another group on this forum to receive this data, I would be glad to.
Many thanks.

Cordell, I'm pretty sure you'll need a short kit for your Mec to do the shorter hulls. I'm not sure what kind of hulls those are most similar to. Also, what pressure range and velocity are you trying to emulate? |

Good points. I am not sure what hulls they are either as they are only marked Gamebore. I also have two boxes of the Polywad that I have not used yet but will reload them as well.
So I guess I am trying to keep the pressure below 8000 or just around that. I am shooting older prewar drillings and shotguns in this case that are 2.5" and while most are solid and in good shape, the higher pressure is not necessary.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

A short kit is not needed. I just take off the guide plate, and cut a piece of 1/4" plywood to fit under the plate. set the wood on the press and slip the guide plate back into place. Only slight adjustments are needed for the crimp, as you would do normally.

Cordell: I'm not sure what type of case the Polywad or Gamebore is. If I had to guess I would think it would be a Cheddite, however, guessing is not good when reloading! Are there any stars stamped on the head case? If we can identify the case I'm sure we could get you some help. In the meantime, contact Russ (see the first subject in this "reloading" thread to join the low pressure reloading group. There are a LOT or good loads which have all been tested for pressure and velocity including many 2 1/2" loads.
