A nice 1947-48 vintage M12 skeet gun for sale. Serial # 8xx,xxx. Marked SKEET on the bottom of the receiver. 26" barrel marked WS-1. This gun was originally a solid rib gun, but now has a vent rib. 85-90% metal finish. Exc. bore and mechanics. Nicely figured checkered skeet wood that was cut to 13 1/4" with a buttplate. It has a fitted pad/spacer that will make it 15". With a standard pad fitted to the gun it would be 14 1/4" LOP. A very attractive gun and delivered to your dealer in the lower 48 for $1250. Email wdavis8679@aol.com for pix or call Bill @ 609-658-7739.

Because I'm bored. $1250 for a re-blued, cut-off gun with a non-original rib? I'd have to be smoking dope.

I'm with Steve 100%----The seller knows it's not worth that price or would have never sent that message--Shooters unfamiliar with prices look to us as a guide and don't need to be misled by scammers. This site is for the promotion of the 16 gauge not for individual sales that rip off the unknowing

I'm trying to figure out what's at issue here. It doesn't sound like the gun is being misrepresented as original. The asking price, if optimistic, reflects refinished condition. There are all kinds of guns listed with optimistic numbers. If you're interested, contact the seller and negotiate.

Original condition 16 ga WS1 skeet guns are more rare than 20 ga versions. There's a (maybe) 80% gun on GB that has languished at $2600 opening price. OTOH, nicer specimens actually sell for $3.5k or more. WS2s are even more rare.

Prewars, even refinished, are more desirable as shooters b/c they are typically lighter and invariably "slicker" than postwar guns. It would be difficult to imagine a better grouse/wc gun than a WS1 16. I'd feel better about bashing a refinished gun through heavy cover. Matter of fact, mine's going out today.

Bill recently sold this refinished WS1: http://www.16ga.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5355 I don't know what he took for it; apparently it didn't take too long.

Sam

"Optimistic" prices probably fly well with a diverse broad consumer base as found on Gun broker, Guns America, etc. Here, where sellers are dealing with a well-informed and specialized group, optimism in pricing will inevitably be viewed as over-pricing.

Look guys--I appreciate you all agonizing over the relative value of this gun, but I have to say that, despite the bleak discription I gave--and not misrepresenting--this is an attractive gun. On reflection, I should have put a solid Winchester pad on the gun and it's LOP would be 14 1/4" It does have very nice skeet grade wood and as one of my few supporters pointed out, I did sell a similar gun on this site recently. If you don't like what I offer, just move on the next gun. I'm not trying to rob anyone and am, generally considered, an easy going guy. To you Steve--I apologize--I reacted angrily and regret it. So there you have it. Now--anybody want some pictures!!! I'll sell the gun at a real fair price............................BD

I ran across the discussion on the M12. Some of you guys are IN VIOLATION of rule 5.

5) Additional posts should only seek further information about the 16ga. gun in question. NO posts are allowed that critique or editorialize the Author's intent, motives, or competence. This forum is intended to be a friendly posting of 'want ads' and should not merit responses that can be taken personally.

I want the rules followed. Thanks, --Doug
