I haven't used RST's yet in my short chambered Lefever, mostly because I can handload the same shell for half the price, a box at a time if I wish. Is there any real advantage to them over handloads, or is it mostly a time savings issue? I have to admit, a case of 8's would save a lot of time preparing for the skeet range, and serve double duty on quail too. |

No real advantage to a reloader other than you don't have to trim hulls.

The RST's are good shells but no better than my low pressure reloads. I shoot them when I don't have time to reload or run out of empty 16 bore hulls to reload. |

I bought a mixed case of #5 and #6 RST 's to use for hunting with my short chambered 16 before I started reloading. I like them but won't pay the price for them again since I got set up to load the short shells.

Thanks, that's what I thought. KHughes, how do the 1 oz. 5's work for you? I have found that load in general to be a bit thin. |

UncleDanFan, I shoot the #5 in the second barrel which is a tight modified and I have very good results with it. The first barrel is a tight improved cylinder and I use the #6 in it. Both loads pattern very well in my gun and kill pheasants like there is no tomorrow.
