TB, Here are the stats on the Cheddite 1628 wads
Cup diameter .670
OAL 1.520
Shot cup depth .860
These wads require an overshot card. The Gulandi 1621's have a shallower cup and do not require the card.

16.5gr GreenDot, 7/8oz shot, 2.5in Cheddite hulls and primers. These hulls are fantastic. Some are on their 7th reload. When Graf's gets their shipment this Spring, I am stocking up on them and 1621 Gulandi wads. Have a great weekend.

Figures. That happened to me two years ago. Graf's ran out and I didn't have wads for four months so I wised up and bought 10K when they became available again. Graf's is now stocking the Clay Buster CBO100-16 Winchester AA clone which has been re-engineered to work better in straight wall hulls. They are a one ounce wad and might work in place of the 1621. If you are roll crimping I have a few and I can give them a try to see how they fit.

My experience is that the R16 produces lower pressure than the WW16 blue wad in The one piece WWAA16 hull. I am unsure about the Claybuster clone, but I doubt that it is a one-to-one substitute for an R16.

Hello All
I had lots of SP16 and not many R16s, so I have been loading my 2 1/2 shells with the SP16. Load is 16.2 grains of Herco, SP16 wad, a cheerio, and 7/8 oz of shot. Federal hull cut to 2.5 and six star crimp. Sure does work well.

I also use the SP16 wad and Federal hull for my heavy hunting loads. After measuring different hulls for capacity I found the Federal to be one of the largest. I have a bunch of different wads, but stick to the SP16's. I also bought 10K of them. My loads are not particularly light, so it will be interesting to have Russ check them out, since I just became a member!
