Hello All,
I have been trying something in the CBC all brass hulls.
Here is the load:
CBC All brass hull (MAGTECH) 16 gauge
Win Large Pistol primer
16.2 grains of Herco
Win Orange 12 gauge wad (yes 12 gauge wad)
One Cherrio
One ounce of shot
A Circle Fly 13 gauge over shot wad
Elmer's School glue.
The wad seems to give enough compression to ignite the Herco and the wad just scoots down the barrel.
The pressure seems mighty low as the mouth of the hulls smokes up :>)
OH, Yes these are 2.5 inch hulls
Anyone else tried this?
Happy New Year

Whats the velocity ?
About 600fps.?
I load the brass 16's, mine do about 800-850 fps. I load a 7/8 oz package.
If you put a 13 ga. nito card on top of the powder you will get more steam.
I use 16 grains of Unique, a 13 ga. OPC, 3/8" fiber wad, then a cheddite 16 ga. wad uncompressed, 7/8 OZ. shot, With a 13 ga. OSC. then the elmers glue. This bring the total column height to 1/8" of the case mouth.
I use them in a Winchester 97 for Cowboy action Shooting, they knock down the steel targets very well.
For hunting I use the Hammer Double shells. They use the 209 primers.
Just be careful, you are in uncharted waters. |
