Has anyone tried these wads yet? There doesn't seem to be any reloading data for them anywhere, including the LPG. Does anyone have any information on these?

Thanks.

Does anyone have measurements? Shot capacity (real, not advertised), anything?

Augustus, does the 1 oz wad hold an actual 1 oz, or is it a little more or less? Does the wad resemble any of the other wads available?

If you have a lymans 4th edition look on page 63 at the activ g28 and g32. 4th edition has some load data for these wads. Also hercules reloaders guide from 1991 has data for these wads.
The cheddite wads throw the best patterns of any 16ga wads I have ever used. At least in my 7 16ga guns they do.
If you don't have a 1991 guide I will try to scan it and send it to you if you want.

These wads do hold 1oz and 1 1/8 in the loads I use.

I ordered a bag of each, so I am going to find out for myself.

Crowkiller, I would appreciate the load data you have, as I do not have the Lyman's 4th edition. What hull do you use these with?

I thought the G28 was actually what is now known as the Gualadini 1618 wad. I have a few of the 1618's out of some Fiocchi's I cut open, so I'll be able to compare when I get my bags.

Here's a recent thread, I've actually got a pic of the Cheddite 1oz. compared to the WAA 16 Claybuster clone. The Gualandis are also pictured in the thread.
Here's some quick specs on the Cheddite:

Height overall : 1.520"
Base OD : .667"
Shotcup Depth : .870"
Height to Shotcup
Bottom : .650"
Cheers,

Ok, I got my two bags of wads today. The measurements for both wads are as Rrusse11 stated. Both wads are identical in shape, size, construction, and shot cup size/capacity. The only difference between the two wads is that the 1628 wad has the small projections in the powder cup (as shown in the picture Rrusse11 provided in the other thread), and the 1632 wad does not.

The shot cups for both wads will hold a level to the top of the wad amount of 1 oz (approximately) of #7 1/2 lead shot.

And these are NOT the same as the Gualadini wads.

"The only difference between the two wads is that the 1628 wad has the small projections in the powder cup"

Same same for the Gualandis, the number of nubs or teeth in the base of the GU's, a much shorter shotcup however. Since most of my loads these days are "light for gauge" with higher volumes of slower powders, I find the Gualandis better for my purposes.

Cheers, here's a tooth comparison,

Great picture of the 1628 wad (cheddite 1 oz) Rrusse11. For those that want to know, the 1832 (cheddite 1 1/8 oz) looks the same, except minus the nubs.

I just got done trying some loads in the two wads. To me, it looks like these wads are actually 1 1/8 oz for the 1628 and 1 1/4 oz for the 1632. That is what my shells ended up being with no filler used anyway, and that was with a very bulky powder.

Sounds interesting. I'd like to see some pressure data for 1¼ oz. loads using the 1632 wad.

After loading a few of these wads, I don't think they are going to be suited for 1 1/4oz loads...or even 1 1/8 oz loads for that matter. I tried some 1 1/8 oz loads with Longshot, and the powder blew through the gas cup on the wads. Everything shot ok, but when I found the wads I shot, they had holes ripped right through the gas cup.

I tried one 1 1/4 oz load using Steel. It riped a hole in the gas cup, and turned the gas cup inside out.

Not to good.
