I have a friend who wants a 16ga 870 barrel. He wants a vent rib barrel only.
# one choice is 26" or 28" choke tube barrel.
# two choice is 26" or 28" fixed choke barrel

I'm going to risk a verbal thrashing here from one or more of the post stomping psycho apes who trail me around the site like a bad smell.
I have a suggestion. Why not locate and buy one of the older ribbed barrels and have some Colonial or Tru-chokes installed by someone like Mike Orlen. I'm betting the cost difference will be neglegable if the buyer can locate a reasonably priced used barrle or one from old stock somewhere.
The newest 16 ga 870 barrels are apparently untapered, unswamped 12 gauge tubes w/Remchokes. They are way too heavy for a 16 ga game gun, and they unbalance the usually excellent handling characteristics of the model IMO. Anyway, its just a thought. tell your friend I said, good luck too. |

(16gg) As listed in the post his #2 choice is just what you suggested.
You never have gotten back to the post on tang interchange. You seem to be the only member with both types of 16ga receivers.

My apologies Tom. Unfortunately, I occasionally have an attack of CRS syndrome. I found the post and answered the question to the best of my knowledge. Hope it helps. |
