I found that I could not get the wad guide low enough for easy wad installation. not wanting to cut down the factory sleeve, I looked around the shop for a similar diameter object- a 45 case worked very well, and the wads slide effortlessly.

If you don't ask, I can't tell.

Mike, the progressive PW has a completely different mechanism and I don't see any way to lower the pivoting guide for 2.5" hulls. So far it's not been a problem with shortened Win/Poly or Federal hulls, but R-16's in shortened Remingtons with more "crimp memory" were an issue. I wound up having to press down on the guide against its spring pressure as the wad was seated. Otherwise the spring would pop the guide back up as the wad base cleared it, thereby losing contact with the case mouth. Crushed cases, blue air.

Can you post a pic of the appropriate part on the progressive? Please?

Mike, this is the only shot I have so far showing the wad guide. It rides along with the shell plate, you can see an allen-head screw at the left side which extends into the cutout in the machine's vertical post. That cutout is offset at the lowest part, to where pushing the operating arm back beyond vertical depresses the shellplate/lower section and the arm swings toward the operator as the screw follows the cutout.
