Have just ordered a Spolar shotshell reloading machine in 16 gauge.
It comes all setup for a specific shell (hull), powder, primer, and wad.
I have asked for it to be set for a 2-3/4 inch shell 1 ounce load at 1145 fps (16 yard trap).
They need to know what hull, wad, powder, and primer I intend to use so they can complete the setup. They load 100 rounds with the specific setup before shipping.
Whatever I use, will be ordering enough components for 5,000 rounds.
Please, your recommended suggestions for components will be much appreciated.
They plan on shipping next Friday.

Wow Dave, nice loader.
I really think you should have determined your load requirments, before you ordered the Spolar.
However, if it was me, I'd use the Cheddite hull. Can be easily bought.
Use the Cheddite primer, as the hulls come primed.
And the 1 oz. Gualandi wad that Graffs sells. GU1621
Not sure what to tell you on powder, I use SR-7625.
It's not the cheapest powder, but works great for my low pressure loads.
Good luck and Congratulations on the Spolar. |

Determining needs first.
Then ordering.
Radical idea.
Not the American Way.
How can we justify our full gun vaults with that approach ?

Great loaders--not sure if I would care for a loader that was that difficult to set up---What if a certain type of hull is no longer avaliable that it is set up for???Settle on a load and be sure to have plenty of hulls---For 16 yard trap I would get on the LPG and drop my shot down to a 7/8 oz load of your choosing. |

Dave,
If Hammer can afford a Spoler I don't think He'll be worried about the price of powder.
