Geez, can you imagine the reaction of anyone who bought a box of these loads in the '60s, shot them for kicks, then threw the box away? Wow, talk about a shot to the noggin!! Shocked

Hi, GG,

Weren't those 3"-16 gauge loads a product of the 30's and 40's? I looked them up I can't find anything in 16 ga 3" mentioned much past the 1940's.

I only have one book on Winchester, and it doesn't say a lot about the subject.

The last time this mongrel of a subject came up I posted an excerpt from, I believe, John Olsen's Book of the Shotgun that highlighted a Parker 16 bored for 3" shells and a partial case of factory ammo "from a now defunct manufacturer". I believe that Parker was a 30's vintage....my best guess.

I'm surprised some enterprising entrepreneur hasn't decided to lengthen the chamber on some really meaty single shot barrel, custom make some 3" brass cases, and have at it, and then enlighten us all as to the 3" 16's relative merits/shortcomings.

If only we knew someone here who was good with that machining kind of thing. Hmm.... Very Happy
