Brewster, I have no idea other than it's (unburned flakes)getting dragged back with the hull during ejection. It was a poor wad fit with the hull for sure.
You are more than welcome to come and observe this! 
I'm not sure where you got the "18 grains" because I didn't post a charge weight on this thread. |

Try Universal Clays! 
It burns very clean during the summer & fall months --- might not do as well during harsh very cold weather, but then again, none of the other powders burn as efficiently in the COLD! |
