While chatting with Charles Hammack last Thursday, I asked if he would let me announce a VERY important bit of news concerning his wad. RST will be announcing that they will be using his wad in a new low pressure 2 1/2" 16 bore loading with 3/4 oz. of shot. This means a true dedicated load for those who don't want to roll their own, and will make a nice sporting clays or trap load available.
I don't have the particulars yet, but it is one more step in the advancement of commercially loaded 16 bore shells.
Keep an eye peeled for a new hull in the future! |

Well ain't that something. Who says this website is not having an impact on the commercial side of things. I'm betting it will not be long before the other firms pick up on these delightful little 3/4 ounce loads for our favorite gauge. If that happens, it is only a matter of time until folks everywhere finally discover what we've known for some time. The 16 is not only the queen of the uplands, its a great fun gun with the right loads. It's about time. Anyone for some fun skeet? |

At the NE SxS shoot a couple of weeks ago, RST gave me some 3/4 oz 12 gauge loads to shoot. Boy were they sweet; no recoil and sounded like a cap, but broke the clays with authority. I would not use them in my 16, but I am sure that others will and they will fill a need. Good to see. |

I talked with RST at the U.P. Shoot, about the 3/4 oz 16 gauge loads.
The response to this load has been very good. They have already placed an order for a bunch of the DR-16 wads.
I shot them, and they crush targets with very little, if any, recoil.
If I remember correctly, they are 1150 FPS @ 6000 PSI, but don't quote me on that.
They 12 gauge, 3/4 oz loads are also a joy to shoot. |
