Just got my jug of PB and will be "experimenting" with it today.
First, going to try it with the DR 16 in a short hull, and see how that works out. If it does, that is what I may send in to test?

Have some 10ga PB applications that I am going to try then the 24ga. Although I have no way of testing the 24ga loads?

I am still waiting on BPI order of some ITX, thought it would have come this week, but didn't. I wanted to load some up and see how it works, and maybe send one of those ITX (10ga and 16) in for testing.

Anybody have experience to share with PB powder??

The following are tested loads with PB powder and 7/8oz. loads. I know they aren't with DR16 wads but they should be a good starting point.

Remington 16 ga 2 3/4" RGL
Rem 209 STS
PB - 18.0 grs
B & P 16 ga wad + 24 ga .125 card
7/8 oz lead
1,160 - FPS
7,300 - PSI

Remington 16 ga 2 3/4" RGL
Rem - 209 STS
PB - 20.0 grs
B & P 16 ga wad + 24 ga .125 card
7/8 oz lead
1,275 - FPS
9,500 - PSI

Winchester 16 ga2 3/4" polyformed
Win 209
PB = 21.0 grs
B & P 16 ga wad + 24 ga .125 card
7/8 oz lead
!,267 - FPS
8,200 - PSI

Winchester 16 ga 2 3/4" polyformed
Win - 209
PB - 23.0 grs
B & P 16 ga wad + 24 ga .125 card
7/8 oz lead
1,354 - FPS
9,500 - PSI

still no luck with the DR16 and short hulls. I know the design was (I think at least in part) to eliminate the need for fillers, etc when loading 7/8 and less of shot in 2.75 hulls. AND it does work for that. Just looking to use them in short hulls, but have had no luck.

Thanks for the data for PB. I do not use Remington, won't use remingtons.
Don't have any Win hulls.
Using Cheddites, and Fiocchis and Feds on occassion

I used similar data today :

22gr PB in 2.5" Cheddite hull
SG16 wad
7/8oz lead #7. I do not know what velocity was, guessing near 1300+ and pressure near mid 9000 to 10000psi.

I also use 23gr PB in Z16 wad with 1oz lead #7's in the 2.5 cheddite. Work fine. (I roll crimp, if folding, these may not work)

I think both loads would work well using Nice Shot??

Also put PB in a 10ga hull. used 1 3/8oz shot, still, had to cut hull down further to 2 5/8", rolled and looks great.

ALSO used the PB (24gr)in a 2 5/8" Cheddite 12ga hull using BPI's Dispersor X wad.

Also used above with Brush wad, but will need to add a little there. I put a Polywad spred-r in one, that was about enough to crimp well. Haven't shot these two yet. (1 1/8oz shot)

Thanks, you are probably right. I didn't get the chance yesterday to get to the 24ga. I have been looking at a lot of 28 data, and Longshot is probably going to be my choice in 24ga. Already have a load for it and has seemingly good results. Would like to be able to test them.

Hootch hate to tell you but your attempting to put 10 lbs of suger in a 5 lb can .

Limit your shot to 23 gram loads and it will fit , but it really shines with a 18 , 19.5 , and 21 Gram load in the 65MM case the 25 Gram load is too much in the 65 MM case , go to the 67-70 MM case for that loading .

Regards Charles

dogchasser 37, you say you use the B&P wad for the loads you have shared with us. Is that the same as the Ballistic Products SG16 made by Gualandi, or is it the Z16 actually made by B&P to be sold by Ballistic Products. Some of these 16 ga wads are sold by so many names, it gets confusing.

It would be the Z16 or also called the TC16.
