Does anyone have experience with the 16 ga. Fiocchi VIP's as a field load for grouse and woodcock?
Is it a low brass hull? High quality shot? Is it plated? General impressions for field performance..
Thanks in advance to all. |

The 16VIP is a premium Clay/target load it is 2 3/4" with 1 oz shot at 1300 fps. The shot is magnum with 5% antimony. It comes in #7.5 & 8 size shot. I have the catalog. |

I have not shot the new VIP load but I have used the 1 oz Game and Target. It is a high quality load. I would think the VIP at 1300 fps would be great for Grouse and farm pheasants. I used to shoot the B&P load of #7's at 1250 fps at Pheasants and had no trouble killing them at appropriate ranges. The VIP should serve you well. |

I see no reason why you need a 1300 FPS load for Grouse and Woodcock.
I do all my target shooting and Michigan bird hunting with the same 1150 FPS reload, and have no trouble killing birds. Grouse are not hard to kill, and rarely shot over 30 - 35 yards. |
