Want to Trade:
16 ga. L.C. Smith - This shotgun was mfg. in 1924. It is a FIELD model Featherweight with 26" barrels. 2 9/16" Chambers. Serial numbers (FWE 73021) match on all three parts. Chokes measure approx. .645”-.650" - I cannot tell if the barrels were shortened or not but I suspect they may have been. Stock is a custom E.C. Bishop and Son* straight English checkered stock made and installed in 1988. Forend is checkered splinter forend, same stockmaker. No cracks. Buttplate is Bishop plastic. Receiver has been blued.
Barrels are original and show usual dings.
Gun was hunted with one time this past season.
*Bishops was a gun stock manufacturer in Warsaw, MO at the same time Reinhardt Fajen was in business there. They were two competing companies and both are now out of business. I have the paperwork for the Stock and Fore-end from 1988-1989. Total cost of stock & Bluing Approx $500
The dimensions of the gun are 14 1/2 LOP to the right trigger and 13 1/2 to the left trigger. Drop at Heel is 2 1/4", Drop at Comb is 1 5/16. Wood is pretty plain but nice walnut. It has a satin finish. All markings are clearly visible. All screws not marked. No dents in the barrels - just normal hunting dings and one spot that looks like might have resulted from a fall. Nothing that couldn't be cleaned up and made right by a good barrel man. With a good rust blue job on the barrels this gun would look sharp.
Would consider trade for one of the following:
Browning Citori .410
Browning Citori 28 ga.
Browning Citori 20 ga. Superlight
Browning Citori 12 ga. Superlight

Not interested in selling it any lower than $1000. It's good and tight and shoots good.
The only reason I would even consider selling it is that it's my number 3 - 16 ga.
I hunted with it once last year on a hunting preserve shooting pen raised chukars. Shot some old paper 6's through it and it never faltered.
I'll just keep it for one of my Grandsons. |

I would have been interested had the drop at heel been 2-1/4" and the drop at comb 1-5/16" as noted in the advertisement |
