My first 16g. It is a 1929 Geco / Gustav Genchow. Gustav Genschow was a wholesaler in Germany who had guns made for the German market by various makers. He also had an ammunition business which is still operating today.
It weighs a little under 6 1/2 pounds, LOP is 14 1/2", barrels are 28" and it has 2 3/4"/70mm chambers. Not much for engraving, but a well made boxlock. I just refinished the wood on it.

My first 16 was a mistake, albeit one of my better mistakes. I was in a gun store and a friend put a SxS in my hands and what a gun. I mounted, pointed and swung the gun and decided right them that I had to have it.
After a few minutes I began to look at the wood, finish and engraving. I noticed to my horror that the gun was a 16 Ga. and I immediately asked the clerk if they had the gun in 20 Ga. They did and when I mounted the gun and repeated the exercises that I did with the 16 I was disappointed. The 20 didn't feel near as good as the 16 and I bought the 16 which is a #2 AyA.
I have shot upland bird with the AyA for the last 13 years to the exclusion of my other shotguns. I have given family members 3 BSS's, guns that I shot for over 30 years. |

Welcome VictoryXC on your first post.
Looks to me like you have made a great selection to break into 16ga. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome to the site Victory. That's a great looking double. What is going to be your next purchase? 16's are like potato chips-cant have just one! |

Thank you for the warm welcome. I have added extra pictures of the proof marks and a picture of when I was well into re-cutting all the checkering with a single line cutter. I used a mix of tung oil, dryer and mineral spirits followed by a few coats of Renaissance wax.
I have canvasback to thank for getting me started on 16ga's. I had all 12's and 20's up until the Geco. I am still finding my way around SxS's, but I can say that I have just concluded the buy anything and everything stage. |

Welcome! Nice gun and finish job, careful, I agree with the potato chip reference. Really like the simple clean elegant lines about the gun, well done shoot it well. |

Very nice work re-checkering. And a bonus for the gun is the 70 mm chambers. I hope you realize that James is the devil getting you hooked on 16's. Be careful. Gil |
