So far only three 16s:
Browning White Lightning 28"
Browning BPS Field 26"
CZ Sharptail 28"
Let's see, hmmm, ahh.... seven 12s and one 20. |

Welcome Blackhawk. How long have you had the Sharptail? Any problems? |

My meager group of 16s is woefully underpopulated.

An update on my response last year. I have purchased two more LC Smith guns since then. The first being a 20ga field model last April and this past week I picked up and Ideal grade 16ga that is a beauty for a better price than either of my field models!
I had been looking online and when I saw the Ideal grade gun listed by Bass Pro shop for such a good price I had to go check it out since the shop is less than two hours away. After looking it over and inspecting the wood for cracks I had to have it.
I have two 12ga autos that seldom leave the safe and are always for sale to finance another 16. A Winchester Super X2 and a Tri Star 12ga DU Special that was won in a DU Texas Hold-em tournament a few years back. |

I have parred it down to 3 Ithaca 37's that I've restored each with different stock dimensions and chokes to suit the weather and clothing. Two of the 3 are prewar and the third is a 1954 with prewar wood. Some others are in the custody of Grandkids or been sold. |

I got the Sharptail last October or November. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet (bad hip, surgical procedure, bad weather, busy, etc.). It is a little heavy for a 16, and yes, it is built on a 12 ga receiver, but I don't mind the extra half-pound or so. It is very tight and I was pleasantly surprised with the fit and finish on a Turkish gun. It's no Beretta 687, but all the screws are indexed and the wood to metal fit is very nice, it has very little "proud" wood. The checkering is a bit different, more truncated pyramid than pointy diamonds, but very consistent with no over-runs. Must be laser cut. The case-hardening is definitely chemical not bone, but nicely done. Overall, a nice SxS for the money. |

Just added another to the stable. Picked up a Remington Model 31 16 gauge with a modified choke. Not a big fan of pumps anymore but a very nice piece. |

I must be losing my mind, I forgot a few:
Ugartechea Grade IV
Manufrance Robust
New Browing Sweet 16 DU
I have more than some and less than others. It's still my favorite gauge.
Merkel 1620 combo
Ugartechea Grade V
Fausti DEA Roundbody
Dickinson 216
AYA 4/53
Winchester M12 w 2 9/16" 28" mod barrel and factory straight stock

I just added two more:
Slightly used new model Sweet 16 with a 26" barrel
French guild gun, unmarked but very high quality with a hidden third bite fastener, 65mm chamber, very well made and it only weighs 6lbs, 11oz!!
That's 11 of them, time to quit!! |

I've only had one sixteen for myself for a while, my husky hammer gun, other than one here and there that I buy to resell. However, I just picked up a rare E grade Lefever 16 thumb push off of gunbroker that I plan to keep. These are rare to begin with, and I've never seen one of these for sale in a 16 before. Even better, I was the only bidder, probably because of the poorly re-done, goofy looking stock which I can fix easily. Since it's not the original stock, I'll probably convert it to straight grip. Sweet! It has what looks to be barnard damascus barrels too, in great shape. These early Lefevers are great, with their side plate mounted sears, and slightly concave ribs. It will be here next week.

Congratulations UncleDan. I too have recently added another 16 to the group. Almost. It's not arrived yet. A 1947, Browning Sweet 16. My first A5 ever! |

It is simply a thumb push lever to open the action in place of the typical swinging top lever. Not sure why they fell out of favor, but they are certainly unusual and interesting. |

I need to update my listing, I now have 12 16 ga's. Skeettx's joking recommendation that I need 16 of them will not likely happen. I truly am through buying new guns now.
CZ Ringneck 16 ga 28"
CZ Ringneck 16 ga 26" screw in chokes
BSA Classic 16 ga Briley screw-ins
TriStar Bittany 16 ga screw-in chokes
AH Fox Special 16 ga 30"
CZ Bobwhite 16 ga(to remind myself why I don't shoot double triggers and straight stocks)
Ugartechea 257 sidelock 16 ga
Parker Hale Uggie boxlock 16 ga 26"
Dickinson Estate 16 ga
CSMC RBL16
DeHaan O2 O/U 16 ga
Fausti DEA 16 ga 28" screw-in chokes |
