I have read about using the original Rem Black hulls. However, if you had to purchase new hulls like Fiocchi or Cheddite say from BallisticProducts, would they work with R16 wads without adding fillers, spacers, etc. I have an old case from that big buy years ago from Realcob? Again, these are R16 wads. Thx |

They would be a poor fit and powder migration would likely be an issue. |

Yup, don't bother, you will just be wasting good components |

Agreed x2, + the cups don't flare much at all so can't modify them to sorta work. If you can't find RGL hulls (or Win CF's) maybe worth your while selling them and picking up other better fitting wads for the Fio's & Ched's. Maybe offer as a trade. |

If you did not have any 16ga hulls, which hull would you use, buy for the R16 wads?
Fiocchi or Cheddite Hulls as an example of new hulls you could buy. Since these may not work given the hull design, what other hull could you buy to use with R16 wads?
Trying to figure out what to do with 5000+ R16 wads |

b1richards,
You can't buy new hulls for the R16 wads. The R16 wad fits in the older and current Remington 16 ga. hulls and the Winchester CF 16 ga. hulls that were last made in 1999/2000.
Any other 16 ga. hull either current or older are not going to be a good match for the R16 wad. The diameter of the R16 wad is too small for RIO, Cheddite, Fiocchi, Federal, Activ, any Winchester hull made after 2000, B & P, Kent, etc. There will be powder migration and you won't be impressed when it gets you.......and it will. |

Trying to find some once fired Remington Game Load hulls would be your best bet if are set on using those wads. |

Anybody have any R16's they would part with? I've never managed to run across any, but have lots of Winchester hulls. |

R16 has a little longer crush section, 1oz shot capacity.
SP16 1 1/8oz shot capacity. |

Tom Shaffer,
FWIW, why look for R-16 wads? A perfect replacement is the Claybuster CB0100-16 wad for 1 oz. loads.
For 7/8 oz. loads there is the Claybuster CB0078-16.
I have a few R-16's, they work, but aren't anything special, nor will they do anything the CB0100-16 won't do. |

SP16 left, R16 right. Think of the R16 as an SP16 w/a built in Cheerio. |
