I recently joined the 16ga. Society. I live in Ilion and am a machinist at Remington. Joel Layaw |

Joel, welcome to the 16 gauge society. Ilion isn't that far away from me. I only have an old Western Field mdl 30 (Stevens 520) pump that I shoot trap and hunt with, nothing fancy.
Must be nice working for Remington. Maybe we can get together this summer and do some shooting or next fall for some bird hunting.

Joel,
As a Remington employee, can you give us any insights as to the health of the company? There have been rumors lately that it's not good.
Anything you can share with us? |

rmeron, certainly we could get together for some shooting and, or bird hunting. I only have one fellow who goes out woodcocking with me, we seem to be few and far between! Most of the boys want to bow hunt these days. I shoot an Iver Johnson 16 that is in very sweet condition. Had an old timer I meet in the woods a few years back refer to it as a mongrel! I like it and that's all that counts. Believe it or not, I don't have a 16 ga. Remington. We did a short production run two years ago and I have no idea when it will start up again. I did machine cuts on quite a lot of them. I think they will be much better if they start the line up again.
662, I am working 54 hours a week if that is any indication of the companies health. It is now 2:50 am and I'm getting ready to hit that sack after a 10 hour day. Back up early tomorrow for 6 more hours. Paycheck is good this time of year. I honestly believe Remington is on solid ground. Any problems would hit the union and fly around the shop like a wildfire. |

Glad to hear it, timberdoodle. I've got 4 Remingtons (three 16s) and counting! |
