In 1950… 25% of all shotguns sold were 16 gauge, there were few unwed mothers, fathers tended to be the bread-winner, teachers were respected, people took personal responsibility seriously…
Today, less than 2% of new shotguns are 16 gauge…

Obviously if our manufacturing base hadn't been exported, and if wages had kept up with inflation, and if fewer women had to work, more 16's would have been sold.

All the above led to a population with a better education, and THAT led to more people buying 16's. |
