I'm going to pile on a 31 question mainly because we have the eminent "Mr. 31" himself on the line (Hi Bill- you at the summer place yet? Let's shoot some skeet!)
My 31 is a 1948 model, steel gun with an aluminum trigger assembly. Should there be an audible click when I push in the slide lock button to release the slide? Mine has very little movement and doesn't "click," but my buddy's does. |

Hi Dave
The only reason I can think of for a clicking sound is either the slide or bolt or both shift slightly when he hits his slide release. See what happens if he trips the release when the gun is held upside down. With the gun upside down you can also see the engagement between the slide and the release.
I don't know how much I will be up in Lake City as I have the boat and trailer up for sale. I'll let you know if I'm up there and we can get together.

Well, I took it to the skeet range and ran 25 shells thru it, on 3 or 4 times the trigger froze, would not fire or move, after ejecting and trying again it would fire. Any suggestions |

The trigger lock is still hanging up despite your cleaning efforts (I assume you gave the trigger group a good douche). At this point you should strip and clean the trigger group. If it still won't work at that point, you may have to lightly stone the trigger lock where it contacts the trigger. Or you can send me the trigger group and I'll fix it for you.
